Product Description

Arcoxia belongs to a family of drugs that are known as Coxibs. The primary component of Arcoxia is etoricoxib.

Uses

Arcoxia is used to treat a multitude of conditions. It is used to relieve the symptoms of osteoarthritis, episodes of gout, menstrual cramping, and minor discomfort. Arcoxia works in a similar manner to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It works by preventing the function of a substance that is known as cyclooxygenase.

This substance causes the release of prostaglandins when there is an injury or a particular medical condition. It is the prostaglandins that can cause inflammation, swelling, and discomfort.

There are, however, two types of prostaglandins—COX 1 and COX 2. COX 2 is the prostaglandin that is responsible for the inflammation and pain. Arcoxia only targets COX 2. Arcoxia is more effective than typical than NSAIDs as it does not disrupt the functioning of COX 1. COX 1 is responsible for protecting the lining of the stomach and the intestines. When NSAIDs inhibit this performance, this can cause ulcers. Arcoxia overcomes this problem.

Dosage

Arcoxia should be taken in measured amounts that have been preapproved by a healthcare attendant. It is imperative that you adhere to the instructions that have been given to you by your healthcare attendant.

Arcoxia is to be consumed via the mouth, preferably with some water.

To remedy the presence of osteoarthritis, you should take 30mg of Arcoxia a day. You should not take more than 60mg to treat this condition.

To relieve an episode of gout, you should take 120mg, once a day. This treatment should not be continued for longer than 8 days. This amount should only be taken when there is a flare up of gout.

For short term pain, you should take no more 90mg of Arcoxia a day. This should be discontinued once a period of eight days has been reached. It is best to only use this drug when you are in pain.

Taking more than the recommended amount may result in an overdose. If you are experiencing this condition, you should contact a nearby medical clinic immediately.
