Product Description

Buspar is a medication that is used to fight off anxiety by changing the balance of chemicals in your brain in order to regulate them and heal the disorder over time.

The main ingredient of Buspar is buspirone. It is used in the treatment of fear, tension, dizziness, and the other physical symptoms of anxiety.

It is not an antipsychotic and should not be prescribed as such. It may be used for treating other conditions too.

Important information

If you have, in the last 2 weeks, been on an MAOI (MAO inhibitor), do not take Buspar. This could cause a dangerous, severe interaction.

Examples of MAOIs include linezolid, an injection of methylene blue, tranylcypromine and phenelzine as well as isocarboxazid.

Never take Buspar if you are allergic to the main ingredient: buspirone. Tell your doctor if you have a history of liver or kidney disease.

The drug’s effect on unborn children is currently not expected to be adverse. However, tell a doctor if you plan on becoming pregnant.

The tendency of Buspar to pass to a nursing child while being breast fed is also unknown at this time. Tell your doctor if you are nursing a newborn.

Dosage

You need to take Buspar as closely to the prescription as possible. Make sure that you follow the doctor’s instructions as much as you can.

Check with the doctor regularly. They might make slight adjustments to the dosage you are taking in order to ensure the best results.

Never take Buspar in larger or smaller doses than you have been told to by your doctor. Do not take it for longer than advised.

Buspar can be taken regardless of whether it is before or after a meal. However, if you take it before or after once, make sure you do it the same way for consecutive doses.

Certain variants of the Buspar tablets are grooved in order to easily break them into 2 or more pieces for a smaller dosage.

If the tablet is not broken properly do not take it. Follow your doctor’s advice as to how much of the tablet you need to take.

In the case that you are taking Buspar as an alternative to anxiety medication of another brand, you have to gradually reduce the medication.

Never go “cold turkey” on any medication that you are taking. Some medications cause you to go through withdrawal if you stop after extended use.

Missed doses and overdose

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember that you did. If you are about to take your next dose, ignore the one you missed. Don’t take extra to make up for it.

If you overdose on Buspar, call your local poison hotline immediately. Contact emergency medical services as well.
