Product Description

Cleocin gel is a topical lincomycin antibiotic. Its main component is clindamycin phosphate.

Uses

Cleocin gel is used in the treatment of severe acne. Sebaceous glands are small glands that are attached to hair follicles. These glands are responsible for the production of oil to prevent the skin from drying out. This oil is known as sebum. In certain instances, the glands produce too much sebum. This sebum combines with other particles and block the follicles in the skin. This allows bacteria to infect the blocked follicles causing nodules, pustules, and cysts.

Cleocin reduces these lesions caused by acne. It works by killing the bacteria that is responsible for the pimples and growths on the skin. This medication also diminishes the amount of free fatty acids that are present on the skin’s surface. This reduces the irritation that is caused to the skin.
