Product Description

Indocin is a medication that is used in the treatment of mid to severe rheumatoid arthritis pains, osteoarthritis and ankylosing spondylitis.

It is also made use of in the treatment of gout, bursitis and tendonitis, or simply to treat moderate pain levels.

Indocin is classified as an NSAID or a Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug. It is thought to block hormones in the body that lead to inflammation.

As an NSAID, it must be noted that Indocin can only be used to treat the symptoms of arthritis or another condition. It does not cure the condition.

Important data

Do not take Indocin if you have allergies to any of the ingredients used in it. Do not take it if you have experienced allergic reactions to NSAIDs before or to aspirin.

If you are about to have heart bypass surgery, or if you have just had it, refrain from taking Indocin unless your doctor allows it.

If you are currently on another NSAID such as ibuprofen, do not take Indocin as well. This could result in an overdose and severe reactions.

Do not use Indocin if you are in your last trimester of pregnancy. The drug could harm the unborn child. Tell your doctor if you are, or plan on becoming pregnant during your treatment.

If you are recently with child and are breastfeeding them, tell your doctor. Do not nurse a newborn if you are on Indocin.

Talk to your doctor about your allergies as well as any medication that you are on whether pharmaceutical or herbal.

If you are on an anticoagulant, corticosteroid or SSRI course, the risk that you have of developing intestinal bleeding is greatly increased.

Anyone currently on diuretics such as spironolactone are at more risk of developing kidney problems as well as increased potassium in the blood.

ACE inhibitors, beta-blockers, diuretics and AR blockers all have impacted effectiveness when used in conjunction with Indocin.

This drug has been known to cause dizziness and lethargy. This can be made worse if you take Indocin with alcohol and other medication.

Do not drive or operate heavy machinery while on Indocin as it can affect your judgement and your reaction times to stimuli.

Using Indocin for prolonged periods may lead to stomach ulcers and bleeding. Do not take the drug in large doses, smoke, or drink alcohol with it.

Indocin can be taken with meals, but this will not reduce the risk of side effects occurring. If you feel the symptoms of stomach bleeding, go to the ER immediately.
